Farmers
in the Portland, Ore., area discuss the opportunities and barriers associated
with selling produce to eager urban consumers. Their issues—difficulty finding
land, accessing capital, competing neighboring land uses, confusing regulation
and zoning laws, and coordinating with distributors and processors—are common
